LandingSite LLC and Final Exams
Still looking for a logo... LandingSite papers have been filed with the state and I am currently drawing up letters to send in numerous languages to being what I consider a new overlapping chapter in my life. Francis, the entrepreneur... I do enjoy the sound of it. Never the less, I don't believe I've ever worked so hard on a single project in my life. Countless hours have gone into what might culminate to nothing; that being said, I can't help but be excited at the prospect of what is to come. In the next week or so I should have a logo followed by matching letterhead, business card, etc. This is not really the hold-up (it'd be embarassing if it was) as finals have been eating away at the tender flesh between my ears like some insatiable parasitic insect. To quote a friend, "finals are really fucking up my life right now"... and it is no surprise, as the sun rises and I take a break from what seems like never ending studying, I can't help but feel like the system needs an overhaul ushered in by a better system in which grades are recorded according to progress, not set. In our search for knowledge we've created standardized tests. Well, my 15 minutes are over, and Nutrition isn't going to study itself.

Holiday Shopping Malls
Along with worklng at my office at the University, I also work at Abercrombie and Fitch and the Limited. Abercrombie and Fitch needs no introduction, a douche place with douche fashion for douche kids and adults alike. The people selected to work there, appropriately are douche-bags, and I can hardly stand to shop there let alone work there for too long a time. The Limited is a women's retail store, whose customer is the young professional. "She wants fashion that reflects her up–to–the–minute sense of style—fashion that gets compliments at work and turns heads. Fashion that lets her express herself. Fashion that fits." Okay, I almost forgot that we were just trying to sell a pair of pants. Capitalism aside (which I love), the people who work here are fun, didactic and just a pleasure to work with. Having worked at the Memorial City Limited in Houston and Barton Creek Limited in Austin, I have never thought about quitting and do great work here, greeting, folding, working the dressing rooms and cash wrap; this is a great place for a college student looking for extra cash.
On to my point... I have a hard time enjoying the holidays because of the environment that they create in the mall. Do people really need to fight and lose their dignity for a sale? And I suppose you can't appreciate having to fold 500 hundred shirts in 20 minutes until you've worked in retail, and you can always tell those who have because they take the time to look at size stickers as opposed to opening every shirt, they fold back what they picked up, and they generally are just better customers. People at the mall (it seems as if though women are worse) just do not know how to shop without acting like animals. No, you're obviously a size 12, not a size 6, and no, you cannot use three consecutive coupons on sale item. Thank you, now get the hell out of my store.
P.S. Control your children. I give them water and direct them to a place to sit, smile and talk to them, all parts of being a stand up guy, but it's really not my job to watch your children while you shop.

Finding a Job
So I've relocated to Boston, where I am currently looking for a job in Marketing. It's difficult to choose a direction to go in because of the sacrifices that it means to other potential life choices. LandingSite and studying for the LSAT both seem to have fallen by the wayside. In the meantime, I am working as a Data and Research Specialist with the Policy Agendas Program in the Government Department at the University of Texas. I am also taking three courses, all basic classes that I need to finish my degrees. Majors: Government- Intl' Relations/ Russian, Eurasian, and East European Studies. Between job searching, working, and studying, I have my hands full...
Part of me is telling me to enjoy the cool weather and just relax. Studying and working in the Government Department databases are strenuous enough and by giving myself time, I can make the most of this transition. It's always a juggling act, except with funds dwindling and work mounting, it's tantamount to doing so on a tightrope. Writing helps, and is more effective that turning on the PS3. Game testing for Sony, that's an idea. If only finding a job were so easy.
